Stack Opener II is a handy utility for navigation through stacks. Not in the way Stack Opener (first two releases) and the Home-stack use buttons to go to stacks (wich is limited by the size of a stack) but with a scrolling field to enter all of your stacks. Another advantage above my first two releases of Stack Opener is the size this stack takes on disk. Stack Opener II is quite a bit smaller. It now just does what it was designed for.
Use of Stack Opener II
Adding to the list
Add a stack to the list by holding down the optionKey and clicking in the field. You will be asked to locate the stack wich you want to add to the list. If there is a name in the field wich is a part of the name of the stack you want to add, you'll get the option to continue or cancel. For example the list contains "Home" and you want to add "Home 2" then you should continue. This option is to remind you not to add the same stack twice. And why should you.
Removing from the list
Remove a stack from the list by holding down the shiftKey and clicking on a stack's name. The name of the stack wich will be removed is highlited. You will get an option to cancel the action.
Scrolling
You can scroll the list up or down with the arrowKeys of your keyboard. Normally the up- and downArrows are used for going back to the last recent card. This will not work within this stack. You still can use the commandKey and ~ to go back or select "Go Back" from the menu.
Another way of scrolling is typing the first character of a name in the list using your keyboard. The field will scroll down to the first name starting with that character.
Opening Stack Opener II
On startup of Stack Opener II it will be added to the StacksInUse (When you hold down the optionKey this stack will not be added to the stacksInUseList). When you're in another stack and you want to go to Stack Opener II (and you did not hold down the optionKey) you just have to type "so" and press enter or return (this depends on the userLevel). If you do this and Stack Opener II isn't in use then it will not work. If you want to compact Stack Opener II, you have remove it from the stacksInUse lis.t Otherwise Hypercard will tell you it failed to compact because the resources of Stack Opener II are still in use. Go to the Home- stack and go back to this stack while holding down the optionKey. This will do the trick.
The creator of DialogDisplay XFCN is unknown by me. If someone might know more about this XFCN please let me know so I can mention it in a next version of Stack Opener II.
